What Happened to 'Free to Be... You and Me'?

Like many young children from the 70s and 80s, my family had a copy of Marlo Thomas and Friends' record "Free to Be... You and Me". It is a collection of songs with an accompanying book and TV special that taught children through songs, poems, stores, and cartoons that it is ok to be yourself, whatever that may be.

If you haven't seen it, don't remember it, or just want to relive the innocence of your childhood, it is worth a watch:

Today is a very difficult day. It is the day after the 2024 election in the United States and the clearest sign of all that we are sliding backwards from that hopeful future where everyone has the freedom to live their life the way the want it to be.

"There's a land that I see
Where the children are free,
And I say it ain't far
To this land from where we are."

Will we ever get to that land?
